“I Grew This Earlier” is a blog about growing your own vegetables and cooking all sorts of exciting stuff.
I decided to give the blog this name after my failed attempt in 2009 at growing chillis (from six plants I managed to harvest one chilli). I have grown some vegetables in past years, some have been a great sucess and others have been a complete disaster. I am also quite enthusiastic at planning for the first couple of weeks, and then it wears off and all my good intentions of thinning out literally ”go to pot” and I end up with a mass of stuff all fighting for space.
In 2010 we are planning on doing some work on the garden to turn it in to a nice space to spend some time and a productive growing area.

I hope in the future to get family and friends who are joining the grow your own revolution to contribute their own growing stories so we can create an I Grew This Earlier community.

Hello Natalie and thanks for the comment on my very new blog. I always find it so exciting when I get a comment – it’s almost like christmas again!
I am a completely chaotic grower. Really i just don’t have the time so bits and pieces get done sporadically. Every year I say I will be more organised and I start off being so but something else usually takes over.

I know, it is so exciting to think that someone has read some thing you have written. Thanks for the comment, hope you come back soon.

I recently retired with the intention of taking up allotmenteering, beekeeping, fishing, foraging and beating at a local shoot. All at various stages of progress.
I have also started a bit of a blog, but I’m limited by my lack of expertise on the blogging process.
I’d like to share expertise and experience on all the above. Can you help.
The henwo.blogspot address will just take to to a copy of my rant against the ranters blog which I posted first on River Cottage. I’m not really sure how to get my blogs out there in the public domain. Like a terrorist, I crave the oxygen of publicity.

Hi, thanks for your comment. I only started my blog a couple of months ago having never done it before. The best thing you can do to get yourself heard is communicate with other blogs and perhaps subscribe to a couple. You will find that each blog you look at has their own list of favourite blogs so you can navigate your way around quite a few. Make a comment on a post that you find interesting, usually they have comment box where you can put your name and blog address which will enable people to find out who you are,you will be suprised how many respond. Personally, I would stay away from using words like terrorist though! All the best.

Natalie, I was wondering if you would be interested in participating in the garden bloggers sustainable living project that I’m currently having? Come over and see if you’d be interested…I’ve got a giveaway to go along with it. I’m planning to share what I do but with your contributions to a greener world, I think you’d have a lot to offer and share!! Jan

I really enjoy reading your posts, i just used this website SwapmySeeds.com, as a way of giving away my unused seeds. Anyone know what I can sell them for? I have maybe 60 chrysanthemum seeds left.

Nice blog. I will subscribe and look forward to your future jottings. How are those Butternuts you grew earlier?? A bit early really, get some in now and you’ll be fine. I used to be chomping at the bit to get my seeds in but l have learned to hold back. Todays weather is a case in question!

I know but I could not wait. Kind of wishing I had now though given the change in weather again. Nice holiday cottage by the way, I have book marked it for future reference.
